If there is a region in Hungary that can be justifiably recommended for both beginner and advanced hikers, it is certainly the Bakony. The largest part of the Transdanubian Mountains lacks towering peaks, but this works to its advantage: the true charm of this gentle, modest landscape lies in its inner values. We must venture into the dense forests, among the comfortably sprawling plateaus and quiet pastures, to discover its hidden viewpoints, surprisingly wild gorges, and mischievously hiding streams. The range of offerings is broad: from easy, few-kilometer forest walks enjoyable by novice hikers to more challenging hikes for the experienced, a variety of routes can be found among the 40 hikes in this pocket-sized publication, richly illustrated with photos and drawings. With the help of QR codes placed on the maps, each can be opened in the Természetjáró app, making navigation simple with a smartphone. Therefore, in the descriptions, we could focus on exciting background information and concise yet engaging introductions to the natural and cultural attractions along the way.
