National Blue Trail

The National Blue Trail is Hungary's longest and oldest hiking movement. The route is marked by blue stripe signs from Írott-kő through Budapest to Hollóháza. Hikers can verify the completion of each section by stamping their Blue Trail verification booklet, thus proving the completion of the National Blue Trail. The National Blue Trail is a continuous, marked hiking route running through the northern regions of Hungary, from Írott-kő to Hollóháza, spanning over 1100 km. It is Hungary's and Europe's first long-distance hiking trail, and together with the Rockenbauer Pál South Transdanubian Blue Trail and the Alföld Blue Trail, it forms part of the National Blue Circle. Completing the trail comes with no obligations, and by traversing the route, one can gain insight into the life, landscapes, daily life, inhabitants, history, geography, wildlife, and natural beauty of Hungary. Completers can verify the completion of each section of the OKT by stamping and dating the appropriate place in the official verification booklet.
