Description
This is an authentic replica of a Viking axe found in Geilo, Norway, near the site of Øyo AS. The artifact dates back to the year 1000 AD. It is believed to have been a versatile tool used for hunting, daily needs, or even as a weapon. Scientific research has established that iron mining began around the year 0 in the Geilo area, so it is reasonable to assume that axes have been manufactured there for over 2000 years. The remains of more than 900 charcoal pits and 90 iron piles near the Øyo factory also attest to the long tradition of axe and tool manufacturing.
